The first few episodes of the show are not terrific, but trust me it does get better. It starts with Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat defeating Shang Tsung, his girlfriend is killed by Scorpion and he teams up with Siro, an exile guard and Taja, a thief. Together they plan to start a centre to train fighters for the up and coming Mortal Kombat. Bent with rage, Shao Kahn sends Shang Tsung to the Cobalt mines, where Vorpax is met.

Shang Tsung send warriors after Kung Lao to get his revenge such as Scorpion and sometimes even Vorpax makes an appearance. Shao Kahn also sends warriors after Kung Lao, such as rain, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Noob Saibot and more. Each hour Kung Lao and his friends must battle warriors sent against them.

Events occur, like the meeting of Kitana, the protection of Edenia's essence, the capture of a portal stone. Sub-Zero leaves his order and Smoke is sent against him (I loved that bit), whilst Scorpion is resurrected. Amongst all this another sorcerer plots against Kung Lao, wanting the warrior's soul, his name is Quan Chi (click on the image to enlarge it.)

Then it evolves as Kreeya joins the fight, she plants her armies around earth realm in order to defeat Shao Kahn, this leads to a few very interesting episodes as well. The season ends (to come back I hope) with the destruction of most of the major characters, which puzzled me and Raydn kneeling at Shao Kahn's feet.
